A member asked:

Could my cholesterol meds cause every muscle in my body to be tight/cramping?

Possibly: Tell your family doctor about your symptoms. He/she may lower the dose or discontinue the medication all together.

Yes: Statin medications (atorvastatin, simvastatin, pravastatin, and others) can cause muscle aches and cramping. In my experience they cause this symptom in 1/5 people. I have patients stop the medicine for a few weeks and see if their aches go away. Talk to your doctor. Visit CardioGauge.com for personalized education about your risk for heart and vascular disease. Good Luck!
