Morphine?: morphine is short acting which explains why the pain improved, but only briefly. In fact, excess morphine use or dependency would be enough to explain these symptoms. Regardless, if the pain is severe enough to require morphine to obtain relief, I would recommend a visit to the Emergency Department.
