My 10 month old has asthma. how common is death from asthma complications? :(

Uncommon: No one should ever die of asthma. This is a very treatable condition. Deaths that I know of occurred in those who resist getting appropriate treatment because of denial , lack of access to care or fear of medications. Some asthma is extremely brittle and requires special care. Be sure you know the signs of an impending flare and be prepared for the next cold. Stay close contact with your Drs.

? mislabeled ?: About 70% of what acts like asthma in infants and toddlers is gone by age 3-5 and I can only remember 1 case of true asthma I labeled at that age in 3+ decades. Most are asthma-like infection triggered conditions, and many pulmonologists won't use the label in kids until>1yr and wheeze without infection. All need to be monitored and treated, I've never had an asthma death, ever, but cam close in one.
