A member asked:

Went to the doc today and she said i'm pregnant. last period started on nov.11, she said i'm 4 and half weeks pregnant.that doesn't sound right to me?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pregnancy dating: Doctors use the LMP(last menstrual period) as a "landmark" to date pregnancies, even though the conception did not happen for about 2 weeks after that period. We continue to use LMP until other parameters of the pregnancy allow more accuracy.
