My wife is first time pregnant & is in 8 weeks 5 days doc said no cardiac activity today, last week ther was flickr, what has happened in this period?

Embryonic demise: In general the heart beat should be present on us by 7 1/2 weeks. This may well be an embryonic demise (missed abortion or miscarriage where baby's heart has stopped, but no other symptoms). Would have us repeated in a few days to confirm this is a demise.
