Not surprising: It is not surprising for stool consistency to be variable during and shortly after treatment of colitis. Gut infections and antibiotic therapy alters the gut microbiota (or bacteria that live in the gut) as well as the lining of the intestines, leading to changes in water/nutrient absorption and subsequently stool consistency. Changes usually resolve with healthy diet and time.
