Not used: Parotid gland is bilobed and in front of the ear with its tail extending below ear lobe. Surgery to remove a tumor is removi the lobe involved. The op is not on the gland but to define the landmarks to find the nerve. Nerve is then dissected at the stylomastoid foramen just in front of osseous ear canal and gland and tumor removed. Stones and not tumors are removed intra orally.
