In Mets: The thyroid gland is a midline neck structure sitting on the larynx or Adams Apple. When on swallows the thyroid gland moves up so that any pathology noted is known to become elevated higher in the midline neck. If the mass you are palpating in the side of the neck region does not move as noted, think of metastatic nodal pathology which must be evaluated. Neck scan and bx necessary.
