Normal: What you are hearing is normal and is the result of peristalsis, which is waves of smooth muscle contraction in the small intestine that move food and gases thru the gastrointestinal tract. On occasion unusually loud growling can result from incomplete digestion of carbohydrate foods, including milk and dairy, can caused increased gas production. Examples are Lactase deficiency and Celiac disease.
