A member asked:

Are bcg treatments for cancer a danger to others living with the patient?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: Bcg is a strain of the attenuated (weakened) live bovine tuberculosis bacillus used as a vaccine against tuberculosis. Its used in treatment of superficial bladder cancer since late 1980s. Instillation of bcg into the bladder is an effective form of immunotherapy in this disease. While the mechanism is unclear, it appears a local immune reaction is mounted against the tumor. Its not contagious.
