Used for teletherapy: Synthetic radioactive isotope of cobalt. Used for external beam radiation in past. Other uses for 60co are: as a tracer for cobalt in chemical reactions. Sterilization of medical equipment, pest insect sterilization. Radiation source for ndustrial radiography, for leveling devices and thickness gauges, food irradiation & blood irradiation and as a radiation source for laboratory use.
