Yes: more importantly, one has increased risk for severe inner ear infection affecting the balance apparatus within the ear. Fluid build up within an ear (infectious or not) can cause some disequilibrium, but this pressure would be released if the drum is open; thus infection may be more likely. Continue to keep your physician informed of any symptoms.
