A member asked:

What causes ovarian cysts when my gyno has given me meds to suppress ovulation to prevent them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal & not: Normal functional ovarian cysts are usually caused by the process of ovulation and monthly ovarian hormonal function. Abnormal or pathological cysts do not form from ovarian function, but from innate or abnormal cell formation. If your GYN has given cyst Rx in the form of contraceptive and you are not a PCOS patient then often a "look/see" in the form of laparoscopy with biopsy is considered
