Oral antibiotic best: Vaginal treatments have been researched as bacterial vaginosis treatment. They don't work well; an oral antibiotic is recommended, usually metronidazole, tinidazole (more expensiive, or sometimes clindamycin. For the brief (5-7 day) treatment required for BV, they usually don't have much impact on the GI tract.
