There are a number: ...of possibilities. She might have lost the feeling in that hand. She might have weakness in the smaller muscles of the hand that control what we call "fine motor coordination." ( Like what you need when writing). Rarely, a person's brain sort of "forgets" that the hand is there. She definitely needs to get medical care. It could be anything from a pinched nerve to a mini-stroke.

Stroke?: This could be a very early sign of cerebral ischemia and imminent stroke. Have her checked ASAP. Hope all goes well.
