Not necessarily: Not necessarily. Dipstick protein results can be falsely (+) and sometimes falsely (-). If the result is 1+ positive in an asymptomatic patient with an otherwise normal U/A a physician might just follow and retest the urine periodically. If the protein is 2+ or more a spot urine protein to creatinine ratio (UPr/Cr) or a 24 hour urine protein excretion should be ordered.> http://bit.ly/1Xp1XRo
