A kidney biopsy: People with persistent hematuria require a kidney biopsy to reveal the underlying cause. Only with tissue can we offer you a definitive diagnosis. Your new proteinuria and periorbital edema is concerning for actual kidney damage and loss of enough proteinin your blood vessels causing edema. This is never normal but it is potentially treatable. Please schedule a visit with a nephrologist.
