Hormones vs other: In many women, this can be normal. When starting a new hormonal birth control, it may take several months for the body to readjust. This includes changes between light/heavy, shorter/longer durations, as well as pain/cramping. If other new symptoms start, this may indicate something else (infection, pregnancy/miscarriage, etc.) and additional work-up by a health profession may be indicated.
