See answer: Your urinalysis may be indicative of either a urinary tract infection or normal vaginal contamination. The presence of only leukocytes (WBCs) in the urine has a poor predictive (<45%) probability for UTI and has resulted in unnecessary administration of antibiotics to one third to one half of treated patients. A urine culture is recommended and is the gold standard for the diagnosis of a UTI.
