Changes in nodules: Thyroid US is usually done when you have enlarged thyroid (goiter) or nodule that can be felt. There are often other nodules within the thyroid that can not be felt and US can show them. We usually do a second US if a biopsy was done and definitely if non-suspicious nodules on first US to look for growth of nodules or development of suspicious characteristics both of which are reasons for biopsy.
