Hearing aid adjust: Hearing aids can potentially cause further nerve damage if the volume setting is too high. Should be professionally adjusted. As far as habituation goes , One may depend on them to hear but the hearing aids themselves don't CAUSE one to depend on them just like glasses don't cause worsening vision.
