I'm a male and interested in occupational therapy. is it unacceptable or frowned upon for a make to be on ot since it's a female dominated profession?

It's fine: A female-dominated profession needs more males. Likewise, a male-dominated profession needs more females. In the 20th century, medicine transitioned from a profession of mostly men, to a much more balanced profession now. One should first do some volunteering or an internship, to see if one will fit in as a male pioneer in a female-dominated profession.
