Joint pain: There are some infectious bacteria that can cause joint pain (reactive arthritis) and diarrhea. These are food borne pathogens such as salmonella and campylobacter. If you have fever or blood in stool I would definitely want you to have stool sample checked for these pathogens.

Yes and Yes: Yes this could be just stomach flu and yes it is common to have muscle and joint aches. The muscle and joint aches can be from 2 things. It can be actually form the same virus attacking the muscle and joint lining cells causing discomfort, and can also be caused by body chemistry levels like your sodium and potassium being out of whack from all the diarrhea. So it is essential to stay hydrated!

Yes: Body aches are very much part of the symptoms that occur with intestinal viral infections or for most viral infections. Treat them with rest, good fluid intake and Tylenol (acetaminophen). The diarrhea is best handled with a diet avoiding harsh roughage and the taking of kaopectate as needed. Symptoms last for several days although post viral fatigue lasts longer.
