A member asked:

I was born with cystic fibrosis. i'm now 35 and my lung function has gradually worsened the last years. i know that survival age is about 40 and i'm at peace with that. however, i still wonder: are there any recent findings about cystic fibrosis?

Mgt: I would advise following your lung function closely with your pulmonary specialist, optimizing your nutrition, and treating any exacerbations with antibiotics and chest physiotherapy. The use of DNAase has been shown to be effective. Some patients may benefit from treatments specifically targeted to their genotype. The CF foundation is another good resource for patients. Stay well.
