Abnormal: High blood calcium is not normal. Hypercalcemia is the medical term for high blood calcium.Over 99% of all cases hypercalcemia are due to a small tumor on one of your parathyroid glands causing a disease called hyperparathyroidism. Very small percentage of high calcium due to cancer.Exxcess vitamin d intake is another cause. Further testing of parathyroid function is usually needed by your doctor.
