Probably won't help: The maie chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) is not an infection and antibiotics don't help. An anantibotic often is tried, because it can be difficult to be sure of the diagnosis; if the problem actually is bacterial prostatitis, antibiotics may help, but usually not. If trimethoprim hasn't helped, sulfa plus trimethoprim (Bactrim) probably won't either. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck.
