Not recommended: This FDA Pregnancy Category D - so it isn't recommended. It can be associated with risk for significant risks to the fetus.

No.: It is highly associated with fetal malformations (neural tube defects). However, to give a thorough answer, I have heard of women taking it during pregnancy and supplementing with large amounts of folic acid. Don’t try this without an informed obstetrician, though, and think very hard about doing it.
