NO: Antibiotics(AB) are NOT recommended for Acute Bronchitis. This is a viral infection and antibiotics treat bacterial infection, not viral infections. The widespread OVERUSE of AB's is due to lack of education and the natural desire of patients "to do something" to eliminate the infection, and the desire of physicians to please the patient. Any improvement on AB was coincidental or placebo effect.
