Please see a doctor.: Your symptoms can be from what we call floaters in the fluid behind the lens or it can also be from a detached retina, which is a serious condition needing immediate attention. Please see an ophthalmologist or go to E.R. or urgent care for evaluation right away.

Ocular migraine: You describe the classic visual symptoms of migraine headache, only no headache. This is generally a benign although frightening condition that tends to happen 3 to 4 times over the course of 2 to 3 months and then kind of go away as mysteriously as the appear. This is a diagnosis of exclusion, however, and I would exclude differently based on age and other medical conditions.
