Genetic & epigenetic: Factors alter fetal brain development (small, densely packed neurons with interrupted connections) in offspring later diagnosed with autism. I don't know if any component of "gm relief food" could be an epigenetic factor (a substance that alters function, but not structure or sequence of fetal genes) or a post-natal trigger for expression of genes altered by unrelated epigenetic factor.

Hard to say: There are increasing data that point to gene alterations in those with autism that can originate in the egg or sperm prior to fertilization. What would cause that to happen and what the timing would be is an unstudied area. Over the next decade or two we may find a definite source, but for now we remain lost. The shift from early childhood to prenatal or pre-conception exposures is most confusing.
