See MD/Gastro: People mean different things re constipation, and not just matter of frequency or harness of stool. Straining can lead to hemorrhoids and fissures, also may develop diverticulas, or worse symptoms leading to obstipation/impacted stool. Thus would be sure to followup with your MD to review meds/diet and rule out other causes for constipation such as hypothyroid, milk allergies, etc.
