For the most part: Trazodone, like other psychotropic medicines, will induce a tolerance effect over time. That means the more often you take it, the less effective it becomes. Its hypnotic quality will display more tolerance effect. With serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitors, which is its mechanism of action on the brain, the effect is much less than, say, morphine or other narcotics.
