A member asked:

A right level iia node is 1.5 x 0.8 x 1.3 cm and is diffusely hypoechoic lacking an echogenic hilus or central vascularity. is this concerning?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Perhaps: Loss of the normal lymph node anatomy (echogenic hilus, central vascularity, longer than wide) can indicate a lymph node that needs more evaluation. Sometimes needle biopsy of a suspicious node is performed under ultrasound guidance as a part of the evaluation process.
