A member asked:

My 10 y.o was diagnosed at 6 weeks old with kawasaki's disease and giant multiple aneurysms. are there difficulties with her when she starts her menstrual cycle? because of warfrin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Warfarin has been associated with heavier-than-normal menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), but there are treatments (like combined oral contraceptive pills, & others) that can help. If you're worried, & since menorrhagia can be significant psychosocial stressor for a young girl, it would be reasonable see a gynecologist or her pediatrician prior to her impending menarche for anticipatory guidance.
