No: Neither the swollen lymph node, nor the pain on swallowing are normal. You may have an infection and that may be causing fever that you are interpreting as hot flashes. If you were having hot flashes at your age, that would be one more reason to see a doctor.

Swollen: A swollen lymph node anywhere is cause for concern and you must see your primary doctor as soon as possible. If there is a delay please go to the nearest Emergency facility. Hope all goes well.
