Flu is flu: The up to 4 strains included in the flu vaccines are determined by worldwide surveillance and represent the best prediction of what would be circulating the globe in the upcoming season. The advent of air travel has made the flu a more global issue. They would include more strains but that would weaken the effectiveness on each individual strain.

Flu vaccine helps: If you have asthma, that means you are at increased risk from the flu, which attacks the lungs. So I strongly recommend it. There are other vaccines recommended for Thailand also including Hep A, Hep B if at risk, oral Typhoid, and being up-to-date on your other vaccines like tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis. If your going into jungle areas, you'll need malaria prophylaxis. See a travel clinic b4 u go
