I got the depo provera shot about 3 weeks ago and i am planning on having sex this week. friday is the 28th day of my cycle and i wanted to know if i'd be protected against pregnancy? also, i have not had bleeding and was wondering if that could happen.

Within the first 1: month of Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) I would make sure to use another method of contraception. Because Depo is a progesterone shot, you will not have normal menstruation for the duration of the shot. It alters your cycle so your 28-day cycle is probably not reliable, i.e. you will not know exactly when you are supposed to ovulate any more. If you do ovulate that is. Again, use another form of contraception.
