Normal vein?: If the vessel is soft and easily compressible it's a vein and usually of no significance unless it is tender. From your description it's less likely that you are describing the temporal artery, which would feel firm and pulsating. A very prominent temporal artery may be a sign of Temporal Arteritis, which should be evaluated as soon as possible.
