A member asked:

My 34lb daughter was given a dose of 1 1/2 tsp twice daily of amoxicillin 400mg but 2 days later my 50lb daughter was given the dose of only 1tsp x2 of 400mg ?! seems off that my smaller child has the higher dosage?!

Doses of amoxicillin: It depends on what they were treated for as some time a different dose is required or a range of dose may work

Confusing isn't it: Germ location (diagnosis) is going to push variations in dosing. If some kid has a bladder infection, or simple pneumonia, I can dose with less because the antibiotic gets to those ares easily. If they have an ear infection, it often requires twice the dose because it has more difficulty getting in to the germ.If these were dosed this way for the same kind of infection, I cannot explain it.
