I suspect i may have fungal infection of scalp and waiting for culture, but they only took hair samples, not a scraping- will it still show anything?

Probably: the scraping is mainly a much faster method. You scrape it, put it on a slide and you can see the fungal infection in minutes not days. Culture is pretty good.
