Boils: A local infection like a boil needs drainage. Lancing will help, but it will definitely continue to drain for days. Your doctor will have instructed you to bathe/soak /shower the area daily. If not getting better, the area may need local surgery to open the area and clean it out. Laundered washcloths would be fine to protect your clothing from the secretions/pus.
