Lots of things: you don't share age or history, so it's hard to know. The scary cause of left sided chest pain is cardiac. thats more likely if you have cardiac risk factors and the pain is worse with exertion. If it hurts with breathing think lung problems. Much chest pain is musculoskeletal. If it persists or you have fever or cardiac risk, it's wise to get checked out locally.

Chest pain emergency: Chest pain needs to be evaluated ASAP, especially with shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, radiating pain to the arm, upper back, or jaw, extreme fatigue. Please go to the ER if you are acutely experiencing chest pain to rule out a heart attack.
