That depends: You would need to burn 3,500 cal to lose a pound. Bottom line is that calories burned must exceed calories consumed. Slower weight loss is in general better.

To Lose Weight: I commend you for your desire to lose weight. Start at 1500 Cal/day of Balanced Diet with Protein, Carbohydrates, less Fat, Minerals, Vitamins and Anti-oxidants. Have whole grains fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products. Limit saturated fat, found in meat and high-fat dairy products. Cheese, butter Take moderate amounts of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats found in fish, and nuts.
