A member asked:

I'm on my period and when removing tampon a clump came out that looked like lining or sac of some kind is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Could be just: clotted blood, or increased cervical mucus. Sometimes hormonal fluxes occur in a woman's body and you bleed more than normal, or with more cervical mucus. If you are on birth control pills, this change could be due to variation in the pill's hormonal content, or your very own. Monitor and see if this increase returns. Have your periods been regular?
