See a neurosurgeon : There are a few types of brain cysts which are considered benign. However, depending on their location and size, they can cause a mass effect and lead to somatic symptoms. A neurosurgeon will decide if and when these need to be removed. Prophylactic treatment with anti-convulsive agents as well as corticosteroids may be indicated if a neurosurgeon is not readily available.

Depends cyst size: This would depend on the size and location of the cyst. If it is large, it can compress on the surrounding brain that might lead to some of the headaches. Additionally, it can compress the normal drainage pathways that can lead to hydrocephalus or fluid back up of the normal drainage pathways. This can be evaluated with a ct or MRI scan of the brain.

See MD: If you really have a cyst on your brain, it's inside your skull and wouldn't make your head sore. Are you sure it's not a cyst in your scalp you mean?
