Possible acid reflux: Acid reflux can give you a bitter taste in your mouth and bad breath in the morning as well as cough at night and morning. Sinus infection can do it as well. Try taking over-the-counter reflux medicine for 2 weeks to see if it helps. Talk to your doctor for more help and long-term medicine if needed. If you take Prevacid (lansoprazole) or prilosec, always take the pills 20-30 minutes before eating.

Smoker?: Smoking can do this. Acid running up from your stomach when you lie down could also do this. That is more likely if you are overweight and have a hernia in your diaphragm. Eating before going to bed could cause this also.
