Yes. Its called: hypochrondriasis--the fear that you have an illness when you don't. It involves ruminating on the sx's--real or imagined, and then being afraid you will come down with the disease. The anxiety that is associated with this syndrome actually makes the worrying worse, so eventually you end up on a negative loop--worrying makes your sx's appear more valid, which in turn increases the worry, etc.

Fixation : Periodically, when perseverating about an illness or condition, one could coincidentally get it, I suppose, however it's not quite so simple as cause and effect? Perhaps a more useful clinical question here would be why be fixated on an illness? What are you getting out of such fixation? A reputable psychotherapist could help you answer these questions.
