A member asked:

I took 5mg of methadone for the first time in 3 months. how long will it remain in my urine?

Why?: Why did you take it? Is it prescribed to you? I assume that your asking how long it sticks around in the urine is because you should not have taken it. Methadone, like other opioids, is addictive and can be deadly if taken by someone it is not prescribed to.

About a week : It is unpredictable. If you mess with this stuff, you are risking not just your sobriety, but your life. It is not worth it.

Not a good idea: Methadone is an opiate and is one of the most addictive substances that should only be taken with medical supervision. I really encourage you to think about why you took it and evaluate whether this is a bigger issue than how long it will stay in your system. I recommend you see a Mental health practitioner and or a substance use counsellor. Good luck to you.
