Black Eye: If you got a black eye that probably means that there was an injury to the area of your eye. Because of that, you should get a good eye examination to be sure that there was no injury to the eye itself. In terms of the bruise, i would use cold compressess for the first 24 hours and then warm compresses. Also stay out of the sun until the bruise goes away. Sun could cause your skin to heal dark.

Cold compress time : Black eye is from broken blood vessels under the skin leaking some blood. Cold compress will relieve pain and swelling. The blood will break down and be absorbed over a few weeks.

Cool compresses: Cool compresses for first 5 days, then warm compresses. Make sure there is no injury to the eye.
