Yes, reasonable: From an Google search: Newer antifungal medications, such as itraconazole, terbinafine, fluconazole, reported as effective therapeutic for tinea capitis. Itraconazole & terbinafine are used most commonly. Selenium sulfide shampoo may reduce risk of spreading the infection early in the course of therapy by reducing the number of viable spores that are shed.

Tinea capitis: Wow you were on griseofulvin for too long - the standard is 6-12 weeks. Certainly oral fluconazole is a suitable alternative but I would also add whit field's topical ointment as well (apply twice daily for 3-6 weeks) - all of this assumes that the diagnosis is correct.
